SDR SensorDish® Reader – Non-invasive online monitoring of pH and dissolved oxygen in 24-well multidishes

The SDR SensorDish® Reader determines the pH and dissolved oxygen in 24-well multidishes during cultivation of microorganisms or cells. These two key parameters give important information about the physiological state of cultures.

Application fields:

+

systematic optimisation of culture parameters (medium composition, growth factors, shaking speed, sample volume, etc.)

+

real-time data acquisition indicates necessary changes of culture medium instant

+

optimal and reproducible culture conditions due to measurement in the incubator / shaker

+

non-invasive online monitoring of pH or oxygen during the whole time of cultivation

+

maintains sterile culture requirements

+

simultaneous monitoring of up to 240 samples by parallel connection of 10 SensorDish® Readers

+

non-destructive measurement method saves samples

+

time-saving and user-friendly due to calibration-free sensors

+

high throughput at discontinuous measurement

 Application example

The figures on the right show the cultiva- tion of CHO suspension cells over 12 days, monitored via the detection of oxygen (top) and the pH change due to respiration (bottom). Various cell concen- trations lead to different kinetics. Medium was changed daily, which results in short-term increase of oxygen or pH value in the sample. Due to medium change, the pH did not drop below 6.3 during the whole time of the cultivation even for high cell concentrations, whereas the oxygen content decreases to approx. 0 %.
The culture was not shaken.
